Hey! My name is Caroline Williams. I am originally from Baltimore, MD. I graduated with a degree in Philosophy from Cal Poly located in San Luis Obispo. When the pandemic began in March of 2020, I moved back to Baltimore and started working remotely.
In my free time, I unpacked boxes of Williams family archives that had been in storage for over 30 years. This website records my process of uncovering the documents, which date back to the 1600s. It has taken about 15 months to organize the material. I started to digitize the archives once it was organized.
The first genealogist in the family was George Huntington Williams (1856-1894), who was the founding professor of Geology at Johns Hopkins. His son, Huntington Williams MD (1892-1992), the Health Commissioner of Baltimore for over 30 years, assembled much of the material shown here. My father, Huntington Williams III, took over the role of family archivist in the 1980s and kept the collection intact. I am proudly the first female archivist in the family.
This website is a “living document” as I continue to add information and documents from the archive.
